Velia’s Candles was born in a year of stillness, when the world paused. In 2020, during the heart of the pandemic, I found myself searching for comfort, creativity, and connection. Far away from my home in Cyprus, and seven years into my life here in the UK, I began pouring candles by hand — each one a quiet ritual, a piece of home, and a source of light during uncertain times.
What started at my kitchen table quickly grew into something much more meaningful. Each candle I created carried a story: the warmth of Mediterranean evenings, the elegance of simplicity, and the belief that everyday moments deserve a touch of luxury.
I named the brand after my daughter, Velia. She is my inspiration, my reminder of love, purity, and new beginnings. Just as she lights up my world, I wanted my candles to bring light, warmth, and beauty into other people’s homes.
From the beginning, it was important to me to create something with intention — candles made with natural soy wax, ethically sourced oils, and sustainable packaging. I wanted to craft products that not only look and smell beautiful, but also feel good to use — kind to the planet, gentle in their glow, and deeply personal.
Every Velia’s candle is more than just wax and fragrance. It’s a reflection of my heritage, my values, and my journey. From the earthy calm of Iasí, to the bold spirit of Aísthisi, and the divine luxury of Aithér, each collection is designed to match a different rhythm of life — soft everyday rituals, modern expressions, or indulgent escapes.
Today, Velia’s Candles continues to grow, but the heart of the brand remains the same: handmade with love, inspired by my roots, and created to bring a little piece of light into your story.
Because every flame tells a tale — and this one began in Cyprus, carried across the seas, and found its home here in the UK.
