Evil Eye Lampada

Evil Eye Lampada

Lampada is the traditional Easter candle that everyone in Greece holds on the evening of “Megalo Savvato” (HolySaturday). It is believed that the "holy" light arrives from Jerusalem in every church a little before midnight, thusallowing candles to be lit!

At midnight the resurrection of Christ is announced, the priest then says "Χριστός Ανέστη" ("Christos Anesti", Christ is risen) and the believers

answer "Αληθώς Ανέστη" ("Alithos Anesti", in truth he is risen). At the same time, fireworks and firecrackers are fired. When the faithful return home, they draw a cross with the holy light on top of their door. Our lampades are handpoured and handmade decorated, meaning that are made from the scratch with a lot of "meraki" - with passion, with absolute devotion and undivided attention.
